We are members of a number of photographic societies and organisations. This is important because it helps us to keep up with developments and trends in our industry. A number of the organisations we belong to hold photographic competitions and some of our work has been successful in these.
We also like to put our work forward for publication and we have been featured in some magazines and wedding blogs.
The Royal Photographic Society
We are both members of the Royal Photographic Society (RPS). Monica has a Licentiate Distinction with the RPS (LRPS). Currently only about 3500 people in the world have a Licentiate Distinction. In November 2012 Monica’s image ‘Jade’ was selected by the RPS as one of only 100 finalists in their Biennial Member Competition. The competition was open to all members of the RPS and attracted 8829 entries. The 100 images chosen are part of an RPS exhibition that toured the UK in 2013.
The Guild of Photographers
We are both Qualified members of the Guild of Photographers. In order to qualify photographers have to successfully submit a panel of images for assessment.
The Guild of Photographers holds monthly competitions and awards Bronze, Silver or Gold Bars to images. Awards for wedding images are quite rare.
Ready or Knot
We’re delighted that the gorgeous wedding of Kim and Matt, that we photographed back in September, has been featured on the Ready or Knot wedding blog.
Kim and Matt were married in St Mary’s Church in Bentley in Hampshire and held their reception at the nearby Barn at Bury Court.
Their wedding was full of beautiful vintage details and had a wonderful, quirky ‘scrabble’ theme running throughout. Their colour scheme of ivory and antique pink not only looked stunning but also blended perfectly with both the décor of the barn and even the colour scheme of the flowers in the gardens, which all made photographing their wedding a dream!
Wedding Photography Select
We were delighted to be accepted as members of Wedding Photography Select (WPS). WPS is ‘a wedding portal with the very best wedding photography in the world’.
One of our weddings was recently featured in an article on the WPS website. WPS interviewed Monica and talked about our approach to the gorgeous wedding of Sara and Tom that we photographed back in November last year. WPS is a website that showcases wedding photography from around the world.
Digital Photographer of the Year 2011
In January 2012, Monica’s image ‘Helen’ and Clark’s image ‘Selsey Bill Lifeboat Station’ were both short listed in the Digital Photographer of the Year 2011 competition run by Digital Photographer magazine.
City & Guilds National Photography Competition
In addition to both being C&G qualified, in September 2011, Monica came second in the annual City and Guilds Photography Competition with her portrait of Clark called ‘Self Portrait’. Keeping it in the family, one of Clark’s seascapes was also ‘highly commended’. This was a national competition for all City & Guilds photography students.
